A message from Chris Shaw, our Club President, for the 2024/25 season.

It’s been an absolute pleasure and privilege to have been a member of this wonderful club for over 50 years and now I have the honour of being its President.

This coming season sees the club celebrate its 75 th year and in those years the club has experienced highs….receiving the South West Outstanding Netball Club award in 2012, and lows during the covid years, when only the efforts of the committee at that time kept the club together.

The club is blessed with its volunteers and I’d like to pay tribute to them for all their efforts in their varying roles, which enable to club to function and develop.

I hope you all enjoy the 2024/25 season, whether as a player or supporter and be proud and loyal members of Bridgwater Netball Club. Winning trophies and leagues is great and what all teams strive for but as well as that, this club fosters a sense of belonging, an environment where players make lifelong friendships and support each other and I think that’s as important as any trophy.

I wish you all a happy, injury free season and hope that every player will give their all for their team and club.

Chris Shaw

Our former Club President, Doreen Hodge, leaves us with this message after her passing.

As President of Bridgwater Netball Club I am very proud to write this foreward.

I have always held the Club in great admiration.

Although I am the only original member still involved with the Club, I have watched many members become excellent players and more importantly loyal and hard working committee members.

The success and smooth running of the Club is a tribute to all their hard work.

This Club has made a great contribution to my life.

I have made wonderful friends and travelled all over Somerset and England through my association with Bridgwater Netball Club, which started in a very small way by the efforts of Mr Irene Tester.

She inspired and organised a small group to form a netball team, which went on to become the Bridgwater League and then the Somerset Netball League.

Enthusiasts all over Somerset now enjoy netball.

This club has a very proud heritage in Somerset, as netball started with our Club.

My congratulations go to the committee and all our members.

My sincere and best wishes for the coming seasons.

Doreen Hodge
