The Club started the month with a snowy cancellation of the central venue at Radstock.
Later that month the Club was given the sad news of the passing of our President Doreen Hodge, the club celebrated Doreen's life on the 16th March at their games. Thank you to our opponents Taunton Netball Club for joining in with us. We also had the opportunity to hear a few words for our Vice President Chris Shaw who has some wonderful memories and tales of Doreen and it was also lovely to be joined by life long member Mollie Gay who would herself have played alongside Doreen in her days. As Chris mentioned the game today has changed so much since Doreen and Mollie were on court but both were, and Mollie still is a wonderful supporter of BNC and netball across Somerset.
On the 17th March our Over 40s players took part in the VetNets Festival at Taunton Vale, they thoroughly enjoyed the day!
The next week we entertained the touring side from Reddon Court in Essex, where a combination of our u13s to u16s played two games against the sides.
Jupiter
Jupiter started March with an important game against Abbey, the team started strongly and took the win. They then played Tone, where the team couldn't seem to settle or find a working combination, which allowed Tone to pull away and win by 10 goals. They finished month with a very wet game against Newton as their final home game of the season, the team pushed Newton until the end but the conditions weren't easy and Newton clinched the win.
Saturn
Saturn's first fixture in mid March also celebrated their captain Hazel's 50th birthday! Saturn pushed against Monmouth allowing them to score within half! The next game for Saturn saw a mix of wind and rain, causing a low scoring game against Hendford, Saturn played strongly as a team and kept calm underneath the pressure to win by 10 goals.
Neptune
Neptune started March with a difficult game against Chalice, the team went two players down in the first 5 minutes of the game, meaning they struggled to find a rhythm. Neptune then played the strong side of Priory, the team really gelled in the second half but it wasn't enough to get them over the line.
Venus
Venus faced an action packed March, they started with a game against Thorns, winning all the way until the final quarter where Thorns took over to clinched the win, but congratulations to Grace and Liv for gaining their senior debuts! Venus had another close game against Blackdown in their final home game of the season, but after going goal for goal the whole game, Venus began to falter, allow Blackdown to get the win. Venus then faced Reckleford in their final game of March, they got the worst of the hailstones, with continous showers throughout the game, but the team kept going through the match and can be proud of their performance.
The club now goes into the final part of the season, where they will play a number of away games. Good luck to everyone!
